Erie, Colorado

Erie Colorado real estateFounded in 1871 as a coal town, Erie is experiencing some of the most intense growth of any town in the north I25 corridor. Population is around 17,000 now and growing. Erie has become a baston for luxury real estate in Denver’s north suburbs because of its proximity to downtown, Boulder and the "Technology Corridor" between Longmont and Boulder.

The new recreation center with indoor pool, racket ball courts and senior center along with Weld County’s newest library are due to open the end of 2007. Currently underway, also, is the extension of Briggs Street in historic Erie to the new Erie Commons where the rec center and library are located. Erie is divided by County Line Road. So, a portion of Erie is located in Boulder County, while the other part is in Weld County.

One of the newer real estate communities, Vista Ridge, has magnificent views of the Rockies and a Troon golf course that is open to the public. There are two pool and recreation centers for the community. In the summer, they host a hot air balloon festival,Erie Colorado Festival as well as the local 4th of July fireworks for the entire town.

Erie is a mix of old and new and you can find anything from a century old bungalow to custom estate with extensive views. You can even own a home backing to an airstrip and your own personal hanger. Much of the town is still farmed, which adds a rural charm many other communities lack. The high school is in its third year and a new elementary is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2008. Shopping is within 10 minutes and Boulder is only 25 minutes along country lanes.
