Southern Hills Offers Ranch Homes in South Denver, Colorado
Southern Hills has long been a favorite community for people who like traditional sprawling ranch style homes in the western tradition. Most of these homes were built in the 60’s and 70’s. There are now some new "Scraper" homes in this area.

These are brand new homes built on lots where the original structure was literally scrapped off the lot. These homes generally cost above $900,000. But, the original ranch homes sell from $400,000-$800,000.
Southern Hills is home to the famous Slavens School. That is one of the best elementary schools in the Denver school system. There is currently a waiting list for people waiting to attend but those living Southern Hills are given priority.
The neighborhood is extremely safe ranking Denver’s lowest crime neighborhoods. It is convenient to several local shopping centers and the nearby Wellshire Public Golf Course. The University of Denver is less than 1 mile away.
Commuting times to the Denver Technology Center (DTC) are less than 15 minutes and to Cherry Creek less than 15 minutes and to downtown Denver less than 25 minutes. Commuting time to Denver International Airport (DIA) is approximately 35 minutes. Southern Hills offers unusually large lots so people who look for yards for children often will often buy homes here.
Nearby, the Wellshire Golf Club and Inn offers 18 holes of public golf as well fine dining. Wellshire was operated as a private country club until the 1950’s when it was taken over by the City of Denver. Now, it is operated as a public facility. The Wellshire Inn offers is hosted by long-time Denver personality Leo Goto. Leo is well know for great food and elegant ambiance. There is even a lounge which occasionally offers live jazz music.
The University of Denver is less than a mile away offering recreation, cultural and educational amenities. Yes, you can even walk to the nearby Starbucks in the University Hills Center which also has all the shopping you need including the local King Soopers.
