It is also the home for fashionable, luxury housing ranging from condominiums to town homes, and even single-family detached homes. This upscale neighborhood is a self-contained oasis for residents consisting of art galleries, coffee houses, bars, restaurants, shopping, and even the newly completed GE Marriott Hotel. For some, it reminds them of Georgetown in Washington, DC, with a tremendous variety of eateries and entertainment venues. Don’t miss Elway’s, owned by former Broncos’ Quarterback John Elway. It’s a great steakhouse and watering hole next door to the fashion mall.
In the summertime the Cherry Creek Arts Festival,held over the Fourth of July weekend, is very popular and brings crowds into the fashionable area to celebrate artistic and musical work. Performers and artists attend from all over the world.
Some people are confused by the term Cherry Creek. It refers to the stream, which runs through, not only this Cherry Creek shopping center area, but alsothroughout thesoutheast metropolitan area.
For example, the Cherry Creek school system is located in Arapahoe County, some seven miles south east of this area. Housing areas in the suburbs that feed into the Cherry Creek school district have the name "Cherry Creek" in them but, in fact, are located in Arapahoe County.
In fact, the Cherry Creek stream and paths run all the way from downtown Denver to the outlying suburbs. Known as the Highline Canal, this popular path network is close to 22 miles long andis used for biking, running, walking, and even horsebackriding.
