Erie Town Fair
by Paula King, Erie Colorado Realtor
One thing I missed when I moved from Canfield, Ohio to Los Angeles was our county fair. I thought a corn dog was the most amazing food I had ever eaten. Now that I live in another small town, I am looking forward to the 12th annual Erie Town Fair scheduled for May 17th.
There are old fashioned carnival games in Coal Creek Park, a classic car exhibition, fire rescue demonstration, candy run, pie eating contest, all the homespun charm of days gone by. The barbeque starts at 3:00. There will be two bands with shows at 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
The fireworks will be sponsored by the Erie Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the food and crafts fair is the balloon launch. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday (weather permitting) you can grab a jacket and a hot cup of coffee and join the crowds on the ridge at Vista Ridge Golf Course and launch of 50 hot air balloons.
I suggest arriving by 6:30 AM. 20,000 people are expected to attend the festivities. Main sponsors of the event are the Town of Erie, Vista Ridge Golf Course and JACK FM. For more detailed information, you can go to www.eriechamber.org and click under "events."
