Ken Caryl
by Dennis Martin, Littleton Realtor
People are always asking me, “What neighborhoods have the lowest crime in the Denver area.” Well, now my opinion is supported by published facts.
According to the May issue of the Magazine 5280, Ken Caryl Valley was one of the 14 safest neighborhoods in the Metro area to purchase a home. Having lived on the Ken Caryl Ranch for over 20 years. I would agree Read more
Chatfield Avenue
by Dennis Martin, Littleton Real Estate
Getting around Littleton by car can be frustrating sometimes. One bottle neck is scheduled to be eliminated along the scenic Chatfield Avenue corridor. While this will make commuting there more difficult for a while, the result will help us all in the long run.
The project to widen West Chatfield between South Everett Way to South Wadsworth Blvd is in the beginning stages. The plans are for Chatfield to have four lanes with turn lanes, curb, sidewalk and gutters. Read more
Lone Tree Sales Tax
by Larry Hotz, All Denver Real Estate
Effective July 1, the local portion of sales tax in Lone Tree, Colorado increased from 1.5% to 1.8%. This increase was authorized in a May 6 election to provide funding for new recreational and cultural amenities.
Home to the already financially lucrative Park Meadows Shopping Mall as well as the big box stores that surround it, Lone Tree already has a substantial sales tax base. But residential voters populating the affluent neighborhoods surrounding Park Meadows voted to increase the sales tax so that the community can enjoy even more recreational and cultural facilities. In the long run, this could increase the desirability of these luxury home neighborhoods even more. Read more

Beazer to Leave Colorado
By Larry Hotz, All Denver Real Estate
In a May 28 memo addressed to all "Trade Partners", Beazer homes,
a national home builder with developments here in Denver, has announced it will close its Colorado division. The effective date is October 31, 2008.
We received a copy of the memo which states that most land development activities will cease now and by September all models and sales operations will be closed. However, Beazer will complete all houses and town homes that have been started. It will not start to build any new units.
Mountain Lions Near Denver
by Larry Hotz, All Denver Real Estate
The Colorado Division of Wildlife was recently called to a home on the southern edge of Highlands Ranch. The family had discovered 5 inch pawprints apparently from a mountain lion just behind their home. This isn’t the first time evidence of a big cat was found near Denver.
Often, I am asked by people moving into the Denver area whether or not the wildlife here is all dangerous.
Littleton Handyman Program
by Dennis Martin, Littleton Real Estate Expert
Did You Know Littleton has a Handyman Program?
Seniors, Disabled residences of Littleton do you or do you know someone who needs minor repairs done around the house. If you are like me, I’m the least handy person who would want to know. I’m not sure what end of a hammer to use. But this is a great program available to Littleton residents who are elderly, disabled or temporarily financially challenged.
Cherry Hills Village Colorado
by Larry Hotz, All Denver Real Estate
I’ve lived in Cherry Hills for over 20 years. My family has enjoyed the pleasant country-like atmosphere and the convenience to the Denver Tech Center, downtown and the Cherry Creek shopping Center. The schools are considered the best in the state. Crime is very low. And the atmosphere seems almost too ideal.
Cherry Hills Village is Denver’s richest suburb. Parts of old Cherry Hills are reminiscent of Darien, Connecticut complete with horses and riding paths. Other subdivisions are more typically suburban except for the size and scope of the mansions on the tree-lined streets and cul-de-sacs.
Homes range in price from just under $1 million for modest ranches to well over $5 million for true mansions of the rich and famous. Often, I am asked if a family relocating
Littleton Rehabilitation Program
By Dennis Martin, Littleton Real Estate Expert
One of the many joys of being Realtor is meeting people that make a difference in peoples lives. I have been selling Real Estate in the Denver Metro area for over 30 years and didn’t know that Littleton Housing Authority had a Rehabilitation program for residence of Littleton.
My daughter Dawn and I met with Kimberly Kingston, program coordination for the Littleton Rehabilitation program to learn more about the program. We not only found a great program but met a wonderful person who makes a difference in many people lives. I want to share with you the different programs she discussed with us.
By Kimberly Kingston, Littleton Housing Authority
In 1977 the Littleton Housing Rehabilitation Program was established to assist low-to-moderate income homeowners in the City of Littleton with financial and technical assistance to renovate their homes.
The benefits of the LHA Rehab Program far exceed that of just securing a line of credit at a financial institution. Banks provide loans, but they don’t provide someone who will work with you through the construction process, making sure the work is done completely and to current code.
