Boulder’s Wheel Deal
by Paula King, Boulder Colorado Real Estate Expert
Boulder has attempted to discourage automobile traffic for a long time. One of its most popular attractions is the pedestrian mall, Pearl Street Mall.
Visit www.boulder.downtown.com. Public parking garages are a bargain, with free parking on the weekends. Now, there is contest for better bicycle racks.
Boulder has more than its share of bike trails and open space throughout Boulder County, most of which eventually lead to downtown Boulder. A group of residents are holding a design contest to come up with attractive, efficient bike racks to be installed around the city. This will be done as the city does various upgrades to the sidewalks after replacing the existing parking meters with kiosks.
100 racks have already been purchased, but, if you have an idea for a new design, you can submit your plan through the groups blog, www.BoulderSpace.org. There are two categories. A design that follows the city’s specific guidelines and another that is creative based without restrictions.
Submissions will be accepted this Spring, with an exhibit of the chosen in early Summer. Check it out.
